“Cusco, also spelled as Cuzco, served as the capital of the Inca Empire, the largest empire in pre-Columbian America. The city was considered the navel of the world by the Inca civilization, and its historical and cultural significance continues to be felt to this day. The people of Cusco, known as Cusqueños, take great pride in preserving and celebrating the traditions inherited from their Inca ancestors. From vibrant festivals to intricate weaving techniques, the spirit of the Inca civilization reverberates through the bustling streets of modern-day Cusco. Despite the passage of time, the city remains a living testament to the rich heritage of the Andean people, ensuring that the legacy of the Incas endures through the ages.”

First Hand Experience!

The moment we stepped into Cusco Airport, I couldn’t help but notice the genuine warmth and friendliness of the people. It was a stark contrast to the impersonal and sometimes overwhelming atmosphere of other airports with their strict security and border controls.

From the instant we set foot in the terminal after disembarking, it was evident that the people of Cusco truly understand the value of travel and tourism for their country, especially as the capital of the Incas.

Venturing beyond the city, one can’t ignore the presence of poverty, especially as you head towards the center and Plaza de Armas. Yet, this is a reality in many countries across the globe and everyone is simply doing their best to navigate through life’s challenges. Witnessing the struggles of the local people is undeniably touching, and while it’s impossible to help everyone, it’s impossible not to feel for them.

One notable aspect within the city center that the local government has managed to control is street begging. In all my visits, I have never encountered open begging, which I believe is a deliberate effort by the local authorities, perhaps the police, to ensure that tourists in Cusco feel respected and not harassed.

That makes the experience of coming to Peru, and Cusco specific all so amazing, and encourages travellers to revisit often.

Embracing Culture

For my very first visit to this amazing country, and special place in history. I embraced the culture more than any other country I had visited. I found myself captivated by the vibrant traditions, the warmth of the people, and the rich tapestry of history that unfolded before me. From the bustling markets to the serene countryside, every moment felt like a cherished chapter in a timeless story.

As I immersed myself in the local customs, my heart swelled with a profound sense of connection. Each interaction, each new discovery, only deepened my admiration for this incredible land. I knew in my heart that I would be revisiting this wonderful place countless times in the future, eager to uncover even more treasures and create lasting memories that would forever hold a special place in my heart.
